Burrata, Heirloom Salad and Basil Truffle Oil

Is it possible not to like Buratta? This is a wonderfully simple dish that is elevated by the homemade herb oil, perfect for hosting a lovely dinner party or as a snack while you binge watch Netflix.

Everyone has select memories in their hearts that they will always cherish. One of mine -don't laugh- is the first time I tried Burrata. I was out to lunch with my best friend and she was shocked I hadn't tried it yet. It was when it had just become all the rage on Instagram so I knew what it was but I had yet to try it.

Burrata is magical, it encompasses the most wonderful part of mozzarella with a soft, creamy center that is just addictive. Mozzarella itself is such a wonderful vessel for flavors because although it has a distinct taste it is a more mild flavor and lends itself well to so many different dishes (good job Italy!).

We wanted to be a little fancy with our Burrata. It is always served with tomatoes and basil and while we didn't want to deviate from that, because if it ain't broke don't fix it, we wanted to do it a little differently. We infused our basil into our oil and finished it off with truffle oil. If you wanted to do this just try and make it from the day before to let your oil really become flavorful! Other than that we kept the preparation really simple and served it with our Confit Garlic toast, which you can find the recipe for here LINK.
